I only say this because I'm letting it download overnight on my work computer, and if it's not going to work, then I'd rather get an earlier version that does. Please try the request again. There are millions of Windows computers out in the wild that have never been infected. I then deleted the folder which contained the IE files, dont remember the name but started with VS i think.
There's several packages included in WineBottler but the ones you are interested in using are Internet Explorer. I think that MicroSoft's site is throttling the download after a time, perhaps detecting a non-browser agent is doing the download. The Launch button in the Akamai Download Manager window does not do anything. Why did noone mention?

Virtual machines allow you to run other operating systems within your current operating system, but why does that matter? Deselect the Enable Protected Mode option. One less thing to worry about with Drupal and I can focus on getting on with cross browser testing. BUT the password ‘Password1' doesn't work.

But like ZM said: it doesn't impact performance, everything seems to work just fine. Like it or not IE is finally dead (at least it will be soon unless Microsoft own a magic wand). Thus, I NEED to use IE, but have no desire to buy windows.
