No big deal.Awsome budget card.If the GF2 has 64mb's I would go with that.If it has 32,Go with the MX440.Forget the FX5200 altogether. jeeez Click to expand... http://www.game-debate.com/gpu/index.php?gid=99&gid2=34&compare=geforce-4-mx-440-vs-geforce-fx-5200

I would not consider those cards instead I would go for a 6200>which is almost the same price as those you mentioned, has more>features.>>You never know what games people will want yoda634, Jan 11, 2004 yoda634, Jan 11, 2004 #21 Jan 11, 2004 #22 lopoetve Imhotep Messages: 28,388 Joined: Oct 11, 2001 Originally posted by Mikey20 on another machine i run the I know that the FX 5200 supports DX9, so i would think that it would be a better performer down the road, but for current games would the MX be faster?

The FX5200 is thebest of these three, but it isn't much better than the MX440. http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php/238256-GeForce4-MX-440-vs-GeForce-FX-5200 The 5200 has DirectX 9 features that the other two cards do not have. If you can find a Radeon 9600 np there for not too much I'd get that. And never use a "roundup" that only uses three benchmarks as the final word on which card to buy. When I benched FX 5200, my mobo was ABIT NF7 2.0 & now is NF7-S 2.0 when benched MX440-8X. 5200 benched using 53.03 & MX440-8X benched using 43.45. Bothare 64bit memory bus cards, and are crippled from their 128bit memorybus versions.

So I say the 5200...probably slightly faster then the Geforce 3, has more memory and has some DirectX 9 features. The Radeon 9200/9000 lies in between the two; it's a DX8 card and has some decent AA features.

I guess I will settle for a 128bitFX5200 unless I can talk the other half into shelling out another 10 or 15Euros for a 5500. -- Jafar CalleyProducer - http://moonlife-records.com--------------------------------------See the

A full GF3 would be worth considering & close up the gap. I'll have to try both cards. Not too much though, the card I had sucked at OCing.) If it were me, I'd do the ti200 or FX 5200, probably the ti200. I don't need it since my current motheboard doesn't support 8x, but what kind of performance hit should I expect?

I have narrowed it down to these three cards and I'm trying to figure out which one to pick or if I should just wait to buy a card. The Ti4200 was a bit faster in most games but not by much and it lacked DX9 features, though not a big deal really. Welcome to OCF! The Radeon 9200LE would be about 10-20% faster and likely have a better image quality. Powered by vBulletin Version 4.2.2 Copyright © 2017 vBulletin Solutions, Inc. It is very very slow. The GF4mx is quite fast for some older games but lacks modern shaders & AA/AF features; the FX5200 has modern shaders so it's faster/better looking in some newer games (not that Do you have any links to such a creature? Yes, you would be upgrading from DirectX 7 to DirectX 9a and the FX5200 has 128bit DDR.
