Ok so I thought about why couldn't you install the Setup inside of a WinPE or a BertPE enviroment, surprise surprise they don't support x64. In your BIOS, there is a setting for the SATA controller. Of course there is a 3rd alternative, if your laptop supports it, you can install either Vista or Win7, they both have driver support built into the install program for AHCI it can not boot (start) Windows or other OS...and you are stuck. I to install the windows vista on the new hard drive and it froze on the section expanding space (something like that) cant really remember.
