Temps dropped over -20C and returned to a normal 30-35C after the re-install. Very high temperatures for such a small case (13"). The GPU, I thought the temps were ok and the paste job was ok but, after doing my own they've dropped from 68c to 60c and this is a slightly inferior Exactly, I think he may have been unlucky and gotten a unit with improper heatpipe contact to the CPU + GPU. weblink

The Hyper 212+ is a great "bang for buck" aftermarket cooler. The idle temperature is still about 50 degrees. dont sweat those temps but is great you got them down. If you want to try overclocking, definitely get an aftermarket cooler, the stock coolers aren't good enough for overclocking. It can perfectly reach 115 to 120 degrees and the processor will still be OK. My GPU/CPU temps on my sammy are high 80's for GPU and 90's for CPU.

Liquid coolers now are as cheap as air, and far more efficient and quiet. I have one and my CPU runs at about 41C when under heavy stress. it runs about the same temps as what you're experiencing and exhibits the same behavior (fans kick on high), except the temps do drop with more cooling. Does it say anything on your CPU usage, even just a quick CTRL+ALT+DELETE into task manager and checking if anything is draining anything.

I'm just worried that I will mess up the thermal paste if I do, and I don't have any of my own to apply.
